Top Ten Most Expensive Cars in 2012
The world’s most expensive cars listing is here for 2012 – each year we work out the most expensive cars available on the market and bring you the top ten list. We’ll give you th world’s most expensive and the world’s most beautiful and powerful cars in production today.
Some cars will be omitted from the world’s most expensive cars listing because they are not in production and generally available on the market. For instance, in 1987 the 1931 Bugatti Royale Kellner Coupe was sold for a whopping $8.7 million making it the world’s most expensive car at that time – but it does not make the list because it is not in production. We also do not include Formula 1 or racing cars – to qualify, the car must be street legal, in production and generally available to the public – providing they have the cash!
The 2012 World’s Top Ten Most Expensive Cars
1. Bugatti Veyron Super Sports – $2,400,000
The Bugatti Veyron base model starts out at a mere $1.7 million and it is the fastest production car at the moment with 0-60 in 2.5 seconds. Powered by a ten-cylinder, 8 liter engine it has a top speed of 267 miles per hour.

2. Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster – $1,850,000
The Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster is the world’s second most expensive car – developed in Argentina and assembled in Cairo, Egypt and Modena, Italy, this is also one of the most exotic cars in the world ever
.0-60 in 3.4 seconds is a little sluggish compared to the Bugatti Veyron, and top speed is 217 miles per hour.
Exact information on how many Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadsters have been built is unclear, but the latest information was that as of 2005 only 9 had been built in total – it is estimated that Pagani has produced around 72 Zonda’s of all types, making the Pagani Zonda one of the rarest, as well as one of the most expensive, cars in the world today.

Equal 3. Koenigsegg Agera R – $1,600,000
Built by Swedish supercar maker, Koenigsegg, the Agera R is the fastest production car in the world – even faster than the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport and costs $800,000 less!
O-60 in 2.9 seconds, which is a little sluggish compared to the Lamborghini Reventon (2.8 seconds) or even the Veyron (2.5 seconds), but how many supercars do you know get driven at 60 miles an hour and then stop?
Answer = NONE!
What happens when you open up the engine and take the Agera R to it’s theoretical top speed of 275 mph?
What you get is a lot of G-force and 300 kph is reached in 14.53 seconds – beating the Bugatti Veyron’s previous world record of 14.6 seconds.

Equal 3. Lamborghini Reventon – $1,600,000
The Lamborghini Reventon is not only the most powerful Lambo ever built but also the most expensive. 0-60 is in 3.3 seconds with a top speed of 211 mph – though it was clocked at 221.2mph in Abu Dhabi, but what really pushes up the price is it is a real rarity – only 20 have ever been built (each vehicle number is stamped between the driver and passenger seats.
The body design is completely new, but pretty much everything else is identical to the Murcielago LP640. ‘Reventon’ means explosion in Spanish, though when used in the vernacular it means a big party or a night out on the town. No matter, the Lamborghini Reventon was actually named for a famous bull which killed a Mexican bull-fighter, the famous Felix Guzman way back in 1943.
So powerful is the Lamborghini Reventon, and because it’s design was inspired by modern fighter aircraft, that one was raced against a Tornado strike aircraft – the Tornado won the race in the last few feet as it got airborne!

4. McLaren F1 – $975,000
The McLaren F1 should be showing some sign of age because it was released way back in 1994 when it became not only the most expensive production car in the world, but also the fastest.
Originally a concept car from Gordon Murray, probably the very best F1 car designer in the world (even today). He managed to convince McLaren Automotive to build the car – to date only 106 have ever been built.
0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 242.95 established, but for an older lady, she looks beautifully dangerous.

Powered by a V12 engine (a first for Ferrari), the Enzo does 0-60 in 3.14 seconds and has a reported top speed of 220 miles per hour.
